My name is Robert M Cox, II although I have changed it since my birth. As I write this, I am 81 years old and I have spent all but ten of those years as either a dependent, as a enlisted man, or a spouse of a military family.
I know what military life is. I know what’s it’s like to attend nine elementary schools, three high schools, and move to a whole new town ever three or less years of my life. It’s hard on the people serving. It’s hard on the spouses and their children. Separation from your spouse or children is hard, especially when you’re in a war zone.
I and my spouse, a retired Army officer, are proud of our service to our country. We were both in combat zones; I in Vietnam, my wife in Iraq.
After I got back from Nam, I finished the last nine months of my enlistment and returned to my “home town” (the town where my grandparents, parents, brother and a sister are buried). Although I was born in another state, I’ve always considered Ashland, Oregon my home because it was the place where we spent vacations with grandparents and parents. Were I went to high school. Where I graduated from college. I felt safe there.
I no longer feel safe in my own country. We are lead by a mad man, hell-bent on destroying our society because of his ego. He has rallied the “uneducated” people around him with lies and deceit just to build his own wealth while pushing the country towards a “dictatorship oligarchy”. He is enabled by the once-honorable Republican Party. But, sadly, that party has faded into oblivion. They have become spineless sycophants and refuse to stand up against Trump.
I am ashamed at what has become of the country under Trump. We no longer have allies, we only have partners in crime – Putin and Xi. We have cowards at the very top of the government and our legislators are not fighting for the “common man” anymore. We have a president, who, every time he opens his mouth, embarrasses the country. He has destroyed alliances with trading partners. He has fracture relationships with other nations that help defend democracy. He is a menace to our country.
So, yes, this site is very anti-Trump, which makes in anti-fascist. And what, pray tell, is wrong about not liking fascists?
